Basically, we will fundamentally improve a student’s approach
to:
1. Managing Their Time
Most students, however capable, benefit greatly from help in this area.
Of course there
is no one perfect system that works for everyone, but there are certainly a number of ways in which all students can utilise
their time more productively and avoid the frustration of seeing time wasted!
Once students
understand the need for structure, regular revision at optimum times and the importance of regular breaks - they begin to
work in a much more efficient and satisfying way and avoid those disturbing last minute panic attacks!
2. Implementing Effective Revision & Exam Strategies
Some students surprisingly achieve excellent exam results without appearing to have worked particularly hard during the
academic year. However, many students work extremely diligently all year but find themselves underperforming in the exams
and for these students, this perceived “failure” can be a difficult set back to deal with.
Good revision skills focus on active rather than passive
work. For instance, instead of re-reading notes, students are encouraged to turn them into a more personal form, to make a
creative effort in understanding and remembering key ideas.
3. Improving Their Mental
Power
We help students to understand how their mind and
in particular their memories work, especially where names, facts, figures and dates are important. There are
a variety of creative tools which can make it easier not only to absorb and retain all kinds of information, but then to be
able to recall important aspects by a process of association.
In particular, students with active imaginations find
these approaches really beneficial.
Various other techniques are highlighted which prove extremely useful in
summarising material and that ultimately save a lot of time and effort.
